Mid way up the Napa Valley, Rutherford is prized for its diverse soils derived mainly of marine sediments and volcanic deposits. This “Rutherford Dust” is said to give a distinctive tannin structure and ageability to the sub-appellation’s wines. The 2019 Encore Vineyard cuvée is complex and perfumed with ultra-ripe fruit flavours brightened by refreshing eucalyptus and spearmint notes.
